Website Design

The first website to be created belonged to Tim Berners-Lee and it was the first web directory giving information to others about how to build their own website and to host sites on web servers. It did not take long for the internet revolution to start once its power was realised.

A website can be designed at all different levels and it usually comes down to personal preference of the website owner and the budget available for the design. A website designer will initially, using their design skills make the design layout of the site, and this will normally include reproducing any existing company logos or images into an electronic form. The design then can grow from there and sites on the internet differ immensely from site to site. This is due to the individuality of the programmer and designer and the needs of the client who the website is for.

All websites will start being written in basic HTML programming language. This will determine the colour and structure of the site, plus the layout of menu systems. All websites have some form of navigation to allow the site visitor to browse the web page to find what they are looking for. A website designer can also include links to other website pages and hypertext to pages within the site itself. This is why the internet is called the World Wide Web as it is a massive web of interconnecting pages and websites. Websites built in HTML are bets when they are suited to fit into the standard browsers which will allow the user to see the page without the need for scrolling. A good website designer will be able to program a site to be cross browser compatible so it will look right to any user.
